This article offers an in-depth analysis of the National Data Catalog (NDC), the Italian strategic initiative aimed at revolutionizing semantically interoperable data management and sharing in the public sector. The founding objectives of the NDC will be explored: harmonise data semantics, ensure interoperability between public administrations and facilitate access to and re-use of information.
